Review of Albert Nobbs (2011) by Todd G — 02 Feb 2012
The movie presents a great premise with interesting characters and dramatic situations, but then we are left with an incomplete and unsatisfying conclusion to the individual stories. Glenn Close is perfect as this meek and nearly invisible man that hides from others in every way.
The setting, costumes and make-up, and accents all work together to place us in the right time and frame for Nobbs, and I enjoyed the journey, but the destination was perhaps too appropriate for the period, rather than for modern storytelling.
