Solid performances; Close portrays the stoic bulter to a point you can't recognize her when she dresses as a woman (hysterical sequence). Although staged in yesteryear, it echos today. Gender bias drives new relationships and new choices.
The hetero world depicted in this Victorian setting casts as the 'darkside'.
