Review of Agora (2009) by Steve S — 24 Oct 2010
Much of my enjoyment of this film comes from the fact that I believe that Rachel Weisz could start wars between nations. Set in ancient Roman Egypt, this is a moral tale that can he a little heavy-handed at times.
The lessons to be learned here are: God incites violence, politics and religion don't mix, and "women have brains too". Director Alejandro Amenebar (The Others) spills some AMAZING visuals on the screen with the tools he's given.
If you can forgive a couple of script imperfections, this is a beautiful film.
