Review of After Life (1999) by Harry T — 30 Nov 2008
Intelligent and beautiful. Loved the director's willingness to keep certain characters ambiguous. Beautifully shot with pared down, minimalist sets--something not really associated with films of this topic.
The kind of film you want to revisit over and over because after the first viewing you realize you're only catching a small amount of the nuance. Each character represents key components of Japanese culture.
