Review of Africa United (2010) by Phil H — 24 Oct 2010
Africa United is a huge success for first time feature director Debs Gardner Paterson. The African scenery gloriously shimmers as do the performances in this family film that fully deserves the great reviews it's receiving.
The films leads are engaging and the relationship between them is believable and attractive. Their journey across Africa takes in both the beauty and troubles of the continent. With the likeable group encountering 'kodak moments' from lions and panthers (no bears - oh my) to the exploding rebel jeeps and the realisation that there are some troubles you cannot escape from.
Punctuated by Simon Willows' quirky, funny and vibrant animation, or "Duduvision", Africa United is a true family film - adults and children will want to see this together and everyone will enjoy it.
