Damn so much potential yet none of it developed. In 2011 a virus wipes out 99% of the human race (The Stand anyone?). 400 years later, 2415, the remnants of humanity exist in Bregna, the Last City on Earth. Bregna is controlled by mildly benoviolent technocracy, oppossed by the Monicans, a group of rebels (we're suppossed to sympathize with them but in the film they so outclass the goverments forces one wonders what the hell is stopping them from taking over?). Aeon Flux is a Monican out to avenge her sisters death. When ordered to kill the leader of Bregna she discovers secrets about the regime, herself and humanity that could end the human race or give it a second chance. Charlize Theron looks good acts bland so does everyone else. The film looks good but can't decide if it's an action movie or a serious sci-fi flick. Worth a viewing just don't expect much.

Update.

Well the film looks excellent, the writing is just lazy. Someone needs to inform the writers that "Deus Ex Machina" is not a term of praise. Like Adam West's Batman Aeon Flux consistently pulls hitherto unmentioned gadgets out of her skintight latex outfit that somehow always get her out of whatever situation she's in thus killing any dramatic tension.
