Review of Adulthood (2008) by Beth C — 03 Aug 2008
A rare sequel that manages to improve on its predecessor, chiefly here by minimising the flaws of the previous film, namely the occasionally suspect stage school acting & meandering narrative. Clarkeâ??s introduction of a more frantic directorial style fits the gritty script perfectly, but while the film clearly has it's heart in the right place, it's use of black humour often undermines it's important message.
Worth seeing to understand & engage with youth culture, but also to be aware of some of it's dangerous flaws.
