Review of Adrift (2018) by Scott M — 18 Jun 2018
I really WANTED to like this movie. A true story of survival adrift on the high seas? I am there. I am so there. But ultimately, this movie left me feeling empty.
Am I supposed to believe the woman who lived this life and death adventure never once cried out to God to save her? The only time I heard the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in this movie was when somebody cursed. The only spirituality in this movie was when the main character agonized over violating her vegetarian lifestyle to survive by eating a freaking FISH.
There was a moment when the two characters pause before digging into a meal. I thought, oh, they're going to pray....but NOPE.
If you are a marine, a sailor, a fisherman, or other person who may be in peril on the high seas, be warned. It's probably BAD LUCK to see this movie, ever.
And you know that sailors, true sailors, we are devout in our own way so...
