Review of Adam's Rib (1949) by Dai W — 15 Feb 2009
It's a movie ahead of its time, with the twin topics of feminism and equal rights. A true battle of the sexes, is this one. Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn in the quintessential Hepburn/Tracy pairing, with sparks and barbs flying all over the place.
The script is clever and wouldn't look out of date as an episode of 'Boston Legal' today, with husband and wife taking opposing sides in a complicated legal case that is picked up and blown out of proportion by the media.
Truly an acerbic gem of a comedy.
