Review of Adam's Rib (1949) by Sage Ivy B — 09 Jun 2009
Fast-paced dialogue a la his girl friday, a battle of the sexes within the confines of marriage. although I always find katharine hepburn to have too sharp an edge on her personality she delivers a good performance, perhaps not as subtle or nuanced as spencer tracys (at least in most parts of the film).
its decent, but I find the manner in which the subject was dealt with a bit off-putting, a bit too conclusive. sure its a comedy, and there are limits to what a comedic audience can handle as far as political and social criticism go, but I was looking for something more than just a "vive le difference" attitude.
