Review of Ad Astra (2019) by Kirkender — 10 Oct 2019
Science Fiction is meant to be inquisitive, thoughtful, expansive and imaginative. Ad Astra is cynical, conservative, boring, and shallow. There is a sense that its meant to be 'realistic' but its lazy and mean.
Toxic masculinity: A Space Opera. Plot holes are plentiful. There are meandering, meaningless voice overs that do nothing to further the plot or 'emotional' journey. Also; there are 2 black people in the movie and they are brutally killed on screen.
All the white people get dignified or off screen deaths. WTF.
