Review of Ad Astra (2019) by Maximumd — 07 Oct 2019
Wow, I was really jacked to see this movie. Everyone's saying it's like next best SciFi flick. I got burned again by the critics. Acting and cinematography were very well done, but beyond that, what a snooze-fest.
Nothing interesting happens in this movie. I appreciate that it is trying to be grounded in reality but then it goes and throws that out the window with unbelievable physics in some sequences. I don't want to spoil anything, but this movie is basically 2 hours of waiting for something to happen.
I wouldn't even call this SciFi. It's more like a family drama. Completely disappointed. If you are expecting something along the lines of 2001, Interstellar, etc., sorry but prepare to be bored to death.
Even the Martian, which is a comparable movie to this, was leaps and bounds ahead. If you like nice space visuals, it might be worth it to see unless you have an awesome HD TV at home.
