Review of Action in the North Atlantic (1943) by Brad S — 09 Apr 2016
Quite a classic action movie. Raymond Massey & Humphrey Bogart is on board a merchant marine ship when it is destroy by the torpedo of a German U-boat. A handful survive and board the raft. The U-boat surface up and crash their raft.
They still survive and make it back on land. Humphrey marries a singer he just knew at a club in that few days of leave. Next day there's mission for them and all is keen. They join a new boat and some new crews.
The U-boat sunk several ships but this time Humphrey ship manage to outrun. The enemy continue to tail within range. Humphrey order engine shut because the U-boat follow by sound. When they can't hear them, they surface and still can't find.
So they send for bombers to search. Approaching dawn, the planes arrive and cause troubles, killing many crews. All planes are shot down. Raymond is injured and rest in sick bay. The U-boat emerge for the final blow.
Humphrey order the crew to put fire on the ship and smoke, tricking the U-boat they were sinking. So they out to surface, Humphrey order their ship to crash them into half. The U-boat was not in time to close the hatch and water gush in and the sub really sinks.
They reach the destination safely and greeted by Russian planes.
