Review of Act of Valor (2012) by Mike J — 11 Jul 2012
They don't need to make a "Call of Duty" movie because that's what this film is: a live-action "Call of Duty.".
The acting is made-for-TV crappiness but the real treat of the film is the gripping action--- which there is a lot of. However, I would've liked to seen more of the brotherhood of the Seals than tons of tons of explosions and headshots. Don't get me wrong, the war scenes feel as real as ever, but I just wasn't as thrilled by it as others may be. The 'first-person shooter' look is cool but if you want the film to stand on its own, don't make it look like a videogame unless you're making just that... a film based off of a videogame.
I liked it but I also didn't like it. In between on this one.
