Review of Across 110th Street (1972) by Stephen C — 11 Jul 2010
Mean and Lean cop thriller with loads of violence and two outstanding performances from Quinn And Kotto.
When a heist goes wrong in Harlem its up to the police to catch up with the criminals before a vengeful mafia does.
The film looks at the robbery from all sides and is interesting as it potrays cops and bad guys both looking for summary justice.
The film is very violent for a film of this period and although some call it a Blackspoitation flilm ,i personally feel the film is more a Cops V crims genre type and in that genre its one of the best, right down to its totally downbeat ending.
Oh and of course the soundtrack is top draw.
