Review of Snails in the Rain (2013) by Russell T — 22 Mar 2015
The setting is 80s Tel Aviv. Boaz is a university student waiting to here on a scholarship from Jerusalem to study linguistics. Checking his PO box everyday, he starts to receive love letters from an anonymous man. He becomes obsessed with the identity of the man and becomes to question his sexual identity and his relationship with his girlfriend.
This is quite a great film depicting paranoia and masculinity. Great performances by the ensemble cast and the eye candy of the quite quite beautiful Yoav Reuveni is lovingly shot.
The ending is a bit "huh?" but the rest of the film makes up for it.
