Review of Absence of Malice (1981) by Kate C — 06 Jan 2010
Excellent, absorbing drama about journalism and the dangers of trial by press. It isn't sensationalised and it doesn't scream a moral in your face; instead it is a quietly intelligent film about how difficult it is to get out of a rut when you find that the world has turned on you.
However, Newman does manage it here, and he does it in a clever, cool and calculated way that is impossible to take your eyes away from.
