Review of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) by Jiana W — 27 Feb 2013
Very interesting concept. The visual effects are pretty awesome and there are some action sequences (the horse chase; the train ride) that are epic to watch. I do, however, get the feeling that it took itself rather seriously to be blending the supernatural with the historical.
For instance, I found myself laughing at something in the beginning of the film that, soon after, I realized its intent wasn't to be ironic or funny at all. That was pretty much the last time I laughed when watching this because everything else about it, despite the fact that it IS entertaining when it wants to be, is a little stern given the silliness the film's title implies.
