Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Celeste F — 09 Nov 2008
I think it must be hard to show a believable real-time escalation and deescalation on film the way a lot of great theater manages to (because it isn't as intimate without the energy of real people in the same room?) but this film does it.
it takes a lot of warm up to the final scene, but it's worth it, and IMHO is one of the greatest party scenes in film. to watch it, it feels as though everyone (in front of and behind the camera) was on the same page to make this picture and the chemistry is as remarkable as it's cohesion.
