Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Augustine H — 27 Mar 2014
Well... Looks like I have to edit my top ten again.
This is a masterpeice if I have ever seen one. From the moment she stepped on screen, I could not take my eyes off of Gena Rowlands. Her performance is simply jaw dropping. Peter Falk is also incredible here, portraying a monster of a man who the audience goes back and forth from understanding to loathing over and over again. Cassavetes directs masterfully, allowing the camera to replicate the feel of intrusive akwardness felt by the guests of this family. It's just... just... gahhh... GAHHHGHGHG.
