Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Dan G — 22 Nov 2013
I have to say that this is a movie in which I felt that all of its characters behaved irrationally, not just Gena Rowlands'. Peter Falk's character is so incredibly unlikeable and ill-tempered that it's a wonder how anybody would want to have anything to do with him.
I had such an awkward feeling watching the acting from all characters in this film in that I didn't have a clue what ANYBODY was talking about, almost as if I was learning an alien language. It seemed that no character could speak when I wanted them to nor could they emote in any way that made a semblance of sense or interest.
While it was a daring film for its time, talking mental illness and all, I felt like I was watching a supporting cast of people who were either incredibly shy or overly emotion.
