Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by Ida K — 14 Oct 2008
I was just completely disinterested in this from the start, and rather than finding the story beautiful and romantic, I found it completely dull. The ending was terribly predictable, but by that stage, I had really given up caring. The characters lacked depth, and overall the movie just didn't keep me entertained.
I'm not a fan of this guys work - I also hated Amelie.
It would have been a better movie had it focused on Marian Cotillard's character, rather than the boringly superstitious Mathilde.
Two thumbs down.
