Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by Terry C — 19 Sep 2009

One of those under-promoted masterpiece. A young girl was told that her fiance had plan to desert during the war and was killed in battle. She refuses to believe and we follow her on her adventure to cling on the hope of seeing him again.

All who know Audrey Tautou's French movies know she brings life, wit and charm to the screen. What sounds like a long drawn drama is surprising funny and entertaining. There's great screenplay and the story is a combination of love, adventure, investigation, fun, interesting twists and turns and an unexpected ending.

Highly recommended.
