Review of A Tale of Two Sisters (2003) by Gabriel K — 08 Jul 2011
A great and very unsettling film at times without the need to be explicit. It features beautiful art direction, good performances, great cinematography, but most importantly, it's the script that shines though and although we're not completely sure about everything that went on in that house and why it went on as it leaves it open for the audience to bring the conclusion on those scenes.
The film does have a conclusion that is nice and neat, but the fact that many events go unexplained is just one of the many aspects as to why "A Tale of Two Sisters" has become a classic and why Director Ji-Woon Kim has continued to go on and make classic after classic.
Watch out Park Chan-Wook.
