Review of A Simple Plan (1998) by Amy F — 20 May 2008
Interesting. Kind of Fargo like - but more engaging in my opinion (v. horrorific) in that you really get to see more of the drama take place between the friends in this film and the pains that result from these simple and good folk having a well intentioned (yet wrong - given the sinful nature of it) plan go bad. Most sad for the one brother who who never wanted to be engaged in the plan - but who gets entangled in the plan.
I thought I would only watch the beginning of the film but continued to watch a bit more and a bit more and just could not pull myself away... The side conversations between the characters really do so much for character development which is EXCELLENT in this film, and sadly, not common in enough films today. Billy Bob Thornton is very good as always.
