Review of A Short Film About Love (1988) by Arto K — 16 Feb 2009
What we have here is a film with some artistic merit but not that much content. The point was to contrast obsession and sexuality with love, but especially Tomek as a character was so deeply flawed an idiot that I found it rather hard to feel any sympathy for him.
Without a political and humanistic message similar to that of "A Short Film About Killing", this one's just pure melancholy for melancholy's sake and, therefore, felt rather worthless.
