This is a pretty terrible movie. The fact that the star, director and co-writer (all the same dude) thinks this is an allegory for the abuse the Serbian government subjects its people to Of course you wouldn't know that by watching this movie.

Personally, I wasn't shocked by the movie at all, though I'm completely aware that there are those who WILL be shocked and disturbed and rightfully so. But I just feel that the movie is meant to deliberately shock you, instead of making you think via the usage of allegories, by any means necessary, so this idea that the director thinks this is really art is offensive to me.

More offensive than anything in the movie itself. I think the movie just tries to push the boundaries without any real artistic merits whatsoever. They're desperate for attention, no matter how they get it.

The baby scene explains this perfectly. If that scene doesn't scream desperation then I don't know what would. And that's probably the worst thing about the movie, they're just desperate to shock you.

And, quite frankly, it just doesn't work. A really intelligent person can see through the movie, and see what it is trying to do. The fact that the movie has received so much attention is really depressing, because people should just take it for what it is and that is a really bad movie.

And this is coming from the guy who thought AntiChrist was a good movie, granted, also, with questionable artistic merit but at least it tried something different and the performances were strong enough that they overcame those weaknesses.

This movie has NONE of that. Again it's just a really bad exploitation movie, and it hardly deserves all the attention it has gotten. If your country has banned this movie from ever being released, well thank them.

They saved your country from this terrible movie. Two things it got right, the gritty look and a cool soundtrack, that's about it, no other redeeming qualities whatsoever. Goddamn I hated this fucking movie.
