LOVED seeing all the sign language. Loved seeing John Krasinski. Man this movie wrenches your emotions out worse than an 1860 washing machine. Plot nicely executed. Movie suggested to me by Brianna. Watched it with Charmaine (10/30/18) The monster creatures look like slender man with those long arms. Also why didn't they try to kill them so so so so so so much sooner??

I'm thinking guillotine at least. Lure them in with noise then pull a lever from far away that releases knives or weapons or at least some kind of heavy thing that could smash or at least cause injury. Why no team of angry revenge people ready to die and looking to fight? Was there such a group and they died??? Were there more monsters? Was this a widespread thing? Why didn't the three monsters go seeking the other parts of the country for fresher meat? They obviously seem starved. Where did they come from? Alien? Ok and for real why did the dad freaking go out? WHY couldn't he stay put and wait for the monster to leave. Spoiler alert. Then he wouldn't died!! Argh! Kudos to mom who protected her family right after giving birth alone so briefly before. I will say one thing that was kinda hard to see and made my heart heavy. The dad/ husband character reminded me of Alan. Damn beard. Also just the facial expressions and mannerisms. The stupid head tilt. And the fact that the character would totally be something that Alan would be doing. THIS is the kind of "horror" movie I like to see. It's very semi-realistic story focused not gore. And they win. Mostly. Which is realistic enough while still being hopeful. Nobody likes the feeling of watching every single person die. Everyone even the really messed up in the head people want to see something win. And this movie made me jump. A couple times. Not too big and crazy but still. This is a suspense movie? Film class terms: You know the bomb is under the table and so do the movie characters but neither of you know when it will go off. Though you see clues right before they do normally. I appreciated that there wasn't much sound in this movie. It fit. Was a nice change in pace too. But the sound of the waterfalls and river and such being such natural calming sounds were also welcome. A welcome break. A lovely choice of song for the couple to dance to as well. The movie class terms is the kind of sound that the actors/characters hear and it grows louder where the audience can hear. There was no sound that the audience could hear that the characters didn't also hear. Except for the deaf character. That doesn't count.
