Review of To All the Boys I've Loved Before (2018) by Sparky M — 18 Aug 2018
Ah how a great chick flick soothes an aching heart. Or maybe it just makes it worse. But maybe it needed to be felt and not ignored and that's what these sappy films I love so much do. Act as the silent outlet that harms no-one and leaves no consequences.
I love the cinematography and the music!! SO nicely put together!! Were there unrealistic parts? Yes. Were there stereotypes. lol yes. Were there classic rom com tropes? Of course. It's a good movie and my mother would probably hate it.
These films are popular because so many people though they deny it do want the fairy tale romance. I'm one of those people. Rom coms are about the unlikely pair ending up together in love. Now it was built up and hoped for in the beginning for Josh and the main character Lara Joan but quickly this jock keep coming up and he's the most unobvious choice but then of course that pegs him as the one.
So that they could over come the odds and have the conflict needed for a good story. Who doesn't like a true hearted underdog? Oh and their kisses were epic. As necessary for such a flick. (Lara Jean-Nobody would call her that so much if they were actually close.
Nick name probably or at the least you just don't say a person's name that often in a conversation with them in all the time day to day life) Parental guide: Includes making out, alcohol references, sex references and minor drug references.
