It has been sometime since the horror genre got anything new. Anything different than zombies, or the tired pop up out of no where gimmick to get a cheap thrill. Then comes, quietly along of course, A Quiet Place.

John Krasinski directs and stars in the film, and uses some sure-fire ways to get a jolt from the audience. But in the vast majority of the film, and through the unique use of microphones to capture even the slightest sounds, A Quiet Place, left me cringing with each scene.

Though very little words are spoken, you are immediately sucked into the world you are shown. The film does use subtitles when the cast is talking through sign language, but the rest is entirely up to the actors themselves.

And they all do a great job of capturing fear on their faces, and without giving anything away, the inevitably of how deafening complete silence can be.
