A pretty solid film from Aaron Sorkin who finally directs a film. You either love or hate Sorkin who's previous work for writing includes: The Social Network (2010), Moneyball (2011) and Steve Jobs (2015).

Sorkin has a kind of style thats hard to describe unless you've caught at least one of the previous mentioned movies. It has style to it and his scripts are very dialogue heavy, but he keeps the pacing moving very well.

Molly's Game is no exception and while it does run just a tad bit too long its an interesting flick about a young lady that got into the poker business. Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain) is a failed Olympian living in the shadows of her successful brothers and her strict father Larry (Kevin Costner).

On hiatus before going to law school Molly starts working for a man who has her record the money for a high end poker game he conducts every Tuesday. Famous actors, businessman and the like go to these games and Molly is tipped very well.

Soon enough Molly realizes she can do this on her own and bring even more money in. The movie is told in flashbacks as Molly is facing prosecution from the FBI who believe she has ties to the Russian Mob.

The present day shows Molly talking to a lawyer named Charlie Jaffrey (Idris Elba) who is learning about her story and figuring out Molly himself. Overall, the pacing is well done. Chastain does a great job here as Molly and she comes off as very likeable and relatable to a point.

The film does a great job and while I suspect a lot of it is a bit more entertaining because its a movie I found the story itself interesting and that it was pretty close to what happened for the most part.

Solid acting from the lead and an interesting make Molly's Game a winner in my book.
