Review of A Quiet Place (2016) by John K — 28 Jul 2018

Well done for what it is, but to echo some other reviewer's criticisms there are plot holes and wtf moments. Biggest is: why would a couple plan to have a child in such a dangerous world? Also -- why not just go live by the river where sounds are naturally shielded by the river sound itself? Another: how could they have produced newspapers -- don't printing presses make noise? Hmm.

Okay but aside from that , well acted; a bit sluggish for the first 30-40 minutes. In the end, for older cineastes such as myself, this movie is nothing too special. It is in the tradition of the sci-fi series 'V' or something like 'War of the Worlds' (either version) in which people battled and hid from creepy aliens and eventually found a way to fight effectively.

Had this flick come along in the 1960s it would have been revolutionary but today its sort of an after-thought.
