Review of A Quiet Place (2016) by Gavin J — 30 Jul 2018
Excellent performances from offscreen couple John and Emily, and some very well done creatures on par with the original Alien, save this otherwise familiar post-apocolypse survival yarn from obscurity.
John's decision to go with sign language through most of the movie as the main communication method is a very risky dice roll that perhaps lost him 10% audience score as seen on here. The tension is well crafted, and the scenes, monsters, and performances save a very problematic story that is difficult to believe (just HOW these scary but perfectly mortal alien monsters defeated the might of the combined world militaries is not offered up for discussion).
And just HOW did that giant nail sprout upwards out of their stairs? And just WHERE did all the flooding water go at the end of the movie...? Still, even with all these glaring plot holes, this movie delivers.
