Review of I, Tonya (2017) by Gavin J — 20 Sep 2018
Margot Robbie channels her inner Tonya slash Harley Quinn on ICE baby! And NAILS IT as the trash-trailer-toughie Tonya Harding and her rags t ruin story in the horrific back stabbing elitist world of Competitive Ice Skating. Standing toe to toe with Margot is an Oscar worthy performance from Allison Janney as Tonya's chain-smoking foul mouthed train wreck mother. The music is 70's Spot, the Clothes, the Cars, all of it, is a treat.
The movie takes the story and shoves it HARD in our face, showing how the CIS world and the collusive media hatchet-jobbed Tonya Harding for daring to leave the trailer park and try to join the rich in their fantasy world.
Seeing Margot actually SKATE this, to 'Devil Woman' no less, is worth the price of admission alone, and I left wanting to get into my bitchen CAMARO and crank it.
Honorable Mention goes to Sebastian Stan, who plays a truly hate-worthy Jeff Galooli Goony to perfection.
