Review of A Place in the Sun (1951) by Tara H — 09 Feb 2008
Fifties drama with the same social concerns as Imitation Of Life or Wild Is The Wind. But George Stevens' solid, unshowy direction makes this age-old tale of love and ambition thwarted a singularly thoughtful piece.
Clift, Taylor and Winters were among the best actors of their generation, and they all shine here.
