Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by Cat P — 27 Oct 2008
The only movie of this series that I've seen...doubt I'll be seeing any other! It does have the great aspects that 80s horrors have:
Cheesy - check.
Good looking teens - check.
Cool death scenes - check.
Horrible punching sound effects - check.
Disgusting villain - check.
The story is very weak and poorly developped. Maybe I was just at a loss because I didn't watch the first three movies of the series. This being said, I was impressed with some of the visual effects. I actually thought that some of the effects were really well made for its time (e.g. when Freddy's remains were coming together in the beginning of the film). But as good as some of the effects were, most of them looked really, really bad.
