Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) by Snowflake S — 27 Mar 2015
This sequel single handedly put the series back on the right track after Nightmare 2's nonsensical narrative implosion, so much that it went on to be a huge hit doubling the box office of its two predecessors.
With a Freddy thats more balanced between scary and jokey, the return of a major key character in Nancy, and wildly creative dream sequences, this turned out to be a crowd pleasing slam dunk and officially put Freddy on the pop culture map.
The story is what really excells in that it not only gives us a clever set up, but also expands the lore of Freddy. With respectable performances by all involved, a real high stake level of danger, and excellent special fx, this is to many the best film in the series arguably. I personally give the edge to the first for its innovative introduction, but this is a sterling example of how you do a good sequel.
