Review of A Man for All Seasons (1966) by Matt C — 26 Jan 2008
I'm sure that the portrail of Sir Thomas More is not entirely accurate. However, what performances, what a cast. And I've never really seen a film where the script when delivered can actually physically raise the hairs on the back of your neck.
This film is full of those moments. Paul Scofield is amazing, John Hurt portrays the whestle Richard with such contempt and it is always wonderful to see H G Wells. I first saw this film approximately 8 yrs ago and it took me several years to find a copy.
I have watched it over and over and over. I would imagine almost 100 times. This is the ultimate film for me, it has been filmed with such love and there is no room for any polish to the scenes. True grit!
