Review of A Man for All Seasons (1966) by Logan M — 22 Dec 2017
A film with both great acting and writing. Unfortunately, there is no direction at all: besides the opening scene, Zinnemann seems to abdicate from his position of director to mere narrator. Still, the production desing is very good and you feel the modern era mood.
Scofield is just awesome with great delivery, turning the overrated character - from a historical apretiation of the film - in a very charismatic fellow, adding much to the slow paced story. Robert Shaw, Nigel Davenport and Welles are just as great.
