Review of A Man for All Seasons (1966) by Mark S — 11 Jan 2009
Paul Scofield rightly received a lot of plaudits for his performance as Sir Thomas More, a man who stood by his principles in the face of overwhelming adversity. It is Scofield's Oscar and Bafta winning display combined with Robert Bolt's excellent screenplay (adapted from his own play of the same name) that make the film.
The production is very much 'no thrills', but there's nothing wrong with that and if anything it perhaps helps paint a better picture of the era.
