Review of A Man for All Seasons (1966) by Calvin C — 18 Feb 2013
Best Picture Winner of 1966, the story of Sir Thomas More is told by an excellent screenplay and an even better cast of actors led by Best Actor winner Paul Scofield. It's about a man who is willing to stand up for his beliefs, even if it means going against the church and the crown. Based on the play of the same name, it is every stagey and dialogue heavy, which will turn off many. But, I enjoyed watching this because the performances are so rich, and it would have been my choice for Best Picture either way.
Grade: A-.
