Review of A Man for All Seasons (1966) by David L — 25 Aug 2018
A Man for All Seasons has strong acting, fine cinematography and a great ending, but its pacing is too hard to get through resulting in a tedious film that feels to be entirely composed of long dialogues and arguments.
Its protagonist is wonderfully realized and acted and the ending is emotional, but there are too many characters in the film, a lot of them flat, plus the pacing is ridiculous resulting in one of the more tedious Best Picture winners and the one which makes you scratch your head at how the Academy picked this over an absolute classic that is 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf'.
