Review of A Life Less Ordinary (1997) by Marty S — 23 Dec 2007
Ewan McGregor was great, that's why he can act for a living, even when he's in bad movies like A Life Less Ordinary. There is a lot of things wrong with this movie, besides weird usage of claymation, I could start with the shaky premise, which is probably the movie's biggest flaw.
But I'd much rather talk about Cameron Diaz acting. When you put her next to a good performer, like McGregor it makes it even harder for her to seem plausible. It's too bad that she is so pretty, cause if she wasn't then directors would stop casting her, and we'd have better films to watch.
Would have been much better without the cupid-duo aspect of the story, they were dumb and unbelieveable. For 103 minutes of a movie it dragged on and on and on. I understood how you felt the first time you said it, the following four just annoyed me.
I think this story was supposed to be enchanting, and show that wonderful cliche of "love conquers all," but apparently it doesn't conquer a terrible script or Diaz's pathetic acting.
