Review of A Life Less Ordinary (1997) by Kendall I — 22 Jun 2011
I actually liked this a lot.
PLOT:Angels O'Reilly (Holly Hunter) and Jackson (Delroy Lindo) are sent from Heaven to make two people fall in love: the daughter of a rich businessman, Celine Naville (Cameron Diaz) and a janitor of the company her father owns, Robert Lewis (Ewan McGregor). When Robert kidnaps Celine, she settles to be a part of it to make her dad mad. It's a very cool and unique twist to the classic romantic comedy basis.
ACTING:It was very good for an independant film. The ones who shined are the 4 main characters, mainly the angels.
SCORE:The score's very good and the soundtrack's awesome too. The soundtrack's typical for an indie film, but it's used very well.
ANIMATION:The stop motion effects are brilliantly done as the great Vincent would do. I liked it also as it adds description, imagination, and clarity.
OTEHR CONTENT:I think the chemistry between Hunter and Lindo are even better than between Diaz and McGregor. And I do have to admit, Diaz is a little bland at times. the only flaw besides Diaz, is the weird ending. It is just bizarre. You will see.
OVERALL,it's a great romantic comedy with a unique twist plot, great acting, nice score and soundtrack, brilliant animation, and great chemistry between Hunter and Lindo. the flaws being Diaz's sometimes-bland acting and the bizarre ending.
