"A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III" is one of the most interestingly and painfully boring movies I've seen in ages. This is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" done by idiots.
"Charles Swan III" is set in the 1970s and it follows graphic designer and ladies man Charles Swan (Charlie Sheen) has a breakdown after his girlfriend Ivana (Katheryn Winnick) leaves him. So Charles is distraught and he packs her shoes in a plastic bag and throws it over the side of Mulholland Drive and then Charles has an accident with his Cadillac after it falls off a cliff and into a swimming pool. After the car accident he suffers a chest attack and experiences hallucinations including one involving him and his friend Kirby (Jason Schwartzman) riding on horseback in the Old West and they run into (you can guess this one coming) Ivana and other almost nude Indian maidens and then they attack them with bows and arrows.
Then we meet Charles' agent, Saul (Bill Murray) and his character isn't interesting at all. "Charles Swan III" was written and directed by Roman Coppola who co-wrote last year's sweet 60's New England nostalgia called "Moonrise Kingdom" and he misfires here with an uncaring lead character who is shallow all the way through. Throughout this movie I found myself thinking: "Charlie Sheen this ego of yours is getting old real fast".
You know when you're in trouble when even the Cadillac doesn't want to be in this dreck either as you see it sliding down off a cliff.
