Review of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) by Matt H — 14 Oct 2015
Loved this movie! So cool, much in the style of "Only Lovers Left Alive" and a little bit of "Let the Right One In." One of those movies that feels like it was made for me personally.
Great music direction, that scene listening to White Lies' "Death" in The Girl's room is so incredibly romantic and beautiful and perfect. Speaking of beauty, the black and white photography is gorgeous; it really is the best medium for photographing faces.
It has that "hipster cool" aesthetic also found in "Only Lovers Left Alive" that I so enjoy. Also, what a great debut for a first time director (of a feature). I'm really looking forward to Ana Lily Amirpour's next film, apparently a cannibal love story, can't wait.
