Review of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1966) by Bob V — 16 Dec 2010
Silly fun, somewhat Mel Brooksian in style. Though dragging on a bit long long at times, it makes up with some terribly clever (and quite a few hilarious unclever) jokes at the right times.
Also the last movie of silent era great, Buster Keaton, who was dying of cancer during the filming, though he still stubbornly did the few stunts his character called for. Perhaps his very limited part in this movie is not quite the send-off a legend like him deserved, but many legends have had shoddier deals handed out to them.
