Review of A Few Good Men (1992) by Brandon W — 25 Jan 2015
Remember when Rob Reiner used to be a talented director? He made movies that people know and love like Misery, A Few Good Men, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, and many others. Now he just make movies that people either don't care, or know that it's going to suck.
I know it's a cliché thing to say but it's true and it doesn't seem possible that he would never make a good movie in the future. In the past, he really made an amazing movie like A Few Good Men with support from writer Aaron Sorkin.
I didn't notice him until I saw films like this and The Social Network and realized that he's a talented writer. It has engaging dialogue and smart writing that can get the viewers interested.
I didn't think it was really predictable, except for one scene though, but that's because I seen movies that done this before, which would make a difference. So I'll just ignore that only small flaw as it's just very minor.
Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Kevin Pollak are amazing in it, but also have a fantastic supporting actor that is Jack Nicholson who is easily one of the best parts of the movie. The characters are memorable, and the courthouse scenes are very tense and smartly well done.
There are some scenes that I thought were going in this kind of route, but actually doesn't go there, which I appreciate. I like that from each side, you can see and understand what they are going through, and why they are doing this.
A Few Good Men shows that Rob Reiner can make a good movie with the right people involved.
