Review of A Face in the Crowd (1957) by Suzanne S — 16 Apr 2010
Brilliant script, brilliant performances. Andy Griffith is perfectly cast as the charismatic "good ol' boy" who is corrupted by fame and fortune. Or is he? Does fame, fortune, and power simply reveal the truth underneath the mask? Did I mention brilliant satire? It misses 5 stars by not maintaining the tone throughout the film, but only just.
