Review of A Face in the Crowd (1957) by Dimitri D — 21 Mar 2015
Let me focus on the Lee Remick scene. Ilia Kazan, who came from another country, was probably disappointed at the small minded culture that this scene presented, and he was right. As a result, on the Ed Sullivan Show, eventually, that baton never did get twirled.
Next, the performance by Patricia Neal. Her later role in Hud, may have been nice, but could it be that there were some who were so cowered by the reality of Marcia Jeffries, that they then sought to obscure this reality by greatly over-magnifying Hud.
Last, but not least, I have just now viewed this motion picture. and for me, Andy Griffith as Lonesome Rhodes has just nudged the role of Boris Lermontov by Anton Walbrook from the top position of all time.
